Combat maths

Combat calculator

Type the numbers from your own status panel and read what the next point is worth. Defence, evasion and critical damage all bend, so the same twenty points are worth far more early than late.

Every field takes the number the game shows you, not an internal one.

Defence

Defence removes a share of an incoming hit, and the share climbs more slowly the higher it goes. Full absorption is reachable, and this shows exactly where.

Removed by defence
30.8%
Damage taken
69.2

The next 20 points remove a further 9.9%

At 339 defence the reduction covers the whole hit, and the game still applies its floor of one damage.

Evasion

Evasion is a chance to take nothing at all, and it flattens hard: the panel value stops counting above 100, and an enemy that ignores evasion scales down whatever you reached.

Chance to evade
39.8%

The next 20 points add 14.3%

The panel value stops counting above 100, which is 76.8% to evade.

Critical damage

A critical multiplies the hit, and an execution multiplies it again. Both climb straight from the panel value.

Critical multiplier
×1.50
Execution multiplier
×2.00

The next 20 points add ×0.20

Curves taken from build 1.0.23.

Why the same twenty points stop paying

None of the three defensive numbers pays out evenly. Defence removes a share of a hit, and that share grows more slowly the higher it climbs, and reaches full absorption at 339. Evasion is a chance to take nothing, and its panel value simply stops counting above 100 — which is a 76.8% chance, not 100%. Critical damage is the exception: it climbs straight, so the last point is worth what the first was. That is why a run stacking one number past its bend loses to a run that spread the same points.

How to use this calculator

Read your own numbers off the status panel, then ask what the next twenty points do:

  1. 1

Type the defence, evasion and critical damage the game shows you — every field takes the displayed number, not an internal one.

  2. 2

Watch the line under each result: it says what the next twenty points add, and marks the ones that have gone flat.

  3. 3

Set the enemy's ignore-evasion when you are planning against a boss; it scales down whatever evasion you reached rather than subtracting from it.
