Artifact
An artifact stays in your bag and runs its own level-based effect. Many carry combo categories, and some print a Placement condition. Academy Brigandine is one artifact that carries two categories.

Start here when a reward card says Artifact. Learn what it is, what makes its effect active, and how its categories lead into combo ladders and individual records.

A Tablet is not an artifact and has no artifact level of its own. It projects a pattern that changes artifacts in the cells it reaches. Surge can ignore artifact restrictions in its marked pattern.
The item list also includes consumables and other objects. Solera's Serendipity can change one combo count, but that does not turn it into an artifact or give it a category.
The 19 cards below are the live categories with stat ladders. Thresholds differ by category, and an artifact with two categories contributes to both. Mystic is active too, but has no stat ladder.
If the card prints a Placement condition, it must be satisfied before the artifact is active. Cold Lock, for example, triggers only when both adjacent slots are empty.
Ignoring artifact constraints waives the printed Placement condition in covered cells. It does not add levels, undo Disable Artifacts, or make an event written inside the effect happen.
